Using MCLE’s Online Forms
MCLE offers two types of online forms: text forms that can be opened in standard word processing
programs and customized for your particular needs, and fill-in forms (PDF versions of standard
Probate Court forms) that allow you to enter information while the form is displayed by an Adobe
Acrobat 4.0 or later product and then print the completed form. By following the guidelines in
Uniform Probate Practice XXXIII governing
computer-generated forms, you can file your completed form with the Probate Court.
Text Forms
The text forms are created in MS Word 97. The annotated version of the form contains endnotes that
hold the text of the annotations. When you purchase a text form, you are given the choice of
downloading the annotated and/or non-annotated version(s). Once you have downloaded the form, it
can be used as any other word processing document.

Fill-In Forms
The fill-in forms are exact copies of standard Probate Court forms (see
Uniform Probate Practice XXXIII
for exact printing guidelines). We have added form fields to the PDF forms so you can move from one line
to the next and fill in the appropriate information. The free Adobe Acrobat Reader (version 4.0 or
later) will allow you to fill in a form and print it, however, Acrobat Reader does not allow you
to save your fill-in form to disk. In order to save a fill-in form, you need to buy the full Adobe
Acrobat program.
If you have Adobe Acrobat Reader properly installed as a plug-in to your Internet browser, Acrobat
Reader will launch automatically and the online form will load. To download a copy of the blank form
to your computer, click the Save icon on the Acrobat Reader toolbar. To print a copy of the form,
click the Print icon on the Acrobat Reader toolbar.
Software Requirements
To view, complete and print MCLE’s fill-in forms you'll need the freely available Acrobat Reader
software installed on your computer. Acrobat Reader does not allow you to save your completed forms
to disk. The ability to save completed forms is available commercially with the Adobe Acrobat 4.0
product suite. If you have an earlier version of an Acrobat product on your computer, you should update
it to Acrobat 4.0 or later. Some of the fill-in form features may not work properly on earlier versions
of the software.

Opening the Form
Once you have purchased a form, you will see a link to it on your order confirmation page. If your
web browser is configured with an Acrobat plug-in to automatically open the file within your browser’s
window, you can simply click the link to open the form. To download the file directly to your computer,
right click on the form title link on your order confirmation page, then select "Save Target/Link As.."
when presented with a menu. You can then open the form in Acrobat directly on your desktop rather than
through your Internet browser.
Completing the Form
Select the hand tool from the Acrobat toolbar menu. You can use the hand tool to move the page around
so that you can view all the areas on it.
-
Position the hand pointer inside a form field and click. The I-beam pointer allows you to type
text. The arrow pointer allows you to select a field, a check box, a radio button, or an item
from a list.
-
Press Tab to accept the field change and go to the next field.
-
Press Shift + Tab to accept the field change and go to the previous field.
-
Use your mouse to select an area of the form that is not inside a form field before printing your
form. If a form field is active (contains the blinking bar) the contents will not print.
-
If the fill-in form is displayed within your web browsers window be sure to use the printer button
on the Acrobat toolbar menu to print the form instead of your web browsers print function.
The list below summarizes the most common technical issues related to viewing and printing fill-in
forms. We have included information to help you resolve or work around these problems.
I am receiving question marks instead of fill-in fields.
You need to update to the latest version of Acrobat Reader. Version 2.x reader does not support fill-in
fields.
Download Acrobat Reader
When downloading a fill-in form, my web browser window goes blank or I get an error message and I
never receive the file.
Should you experience fill-in form files appearing as a blank window within your web browser after
downloading, follow the appropriate steps below to resolve the issue:
-
Reload and make sure that the entire file is being downloaded.
-
Microsoft has additional information for Internet Explorer users in their
on-line support database.

Error "Out of Memory" or drawing error when printing a filled-in form from Acrobat Reader
When printing a PDF file from Reader in Windows to a non-PostScript printer, Windows returns the error,
"Out of memory," and the PDF file does not print. This error may occur when you're printing with an
outdated printer driver or when there are insufficient system resources.
If you receive an "Out of Memory" error when printing from Reader, try one or more of the following:
-
Check to make sure you are running the latest version of Acrobat Reader (version 4.0 or later).
To check version, select the Acrobat icon at the bottom of the screen, then select help on the
Reader menu bar and "About Adobe Acrobat".
-
Verify that you are using the most current printer driver available for your printer. Contact
the printer manufacturer for more information.
-
Make sure you have plenty of free drive space available. All Windows applications create
temporary files when printing, which are stored on the computer's free hard drive space. Adobe
recommends that you keep free hard drive space equivalent to at least three to five times the
size of the file you're printing. In addition, both Windows 95 and Windows NT require additional
drive space to manage virtual memory. Adobe recommends you keep at least 25 MB of drive space
free for virtual memory management.
-
Make sure you have at least 50% of your system resources free when printing from an Acrobat
viewer. If your system resources are below 50%, exit all applications but the Acrobat viewer.
You may need to restart Windows before it reflects freed system resources.
To check the amount of available resources:
-
In Windows 95/98, right-click My Computer, choose Properties from the pop-up menu, then click
the Performance tab.
-
In Windows NT4.0, press Ctrl + Alt + Del, then click Task Manager.
How to open up the fill-in form file independent of the browser.
After you have downloaded a form to your computer, you will be able to open it anytime without
returning to MCLE.org. Start up Acrobat Reader on your computer, independent of the browser, and
open up the downloaded file.
Using MCLE’s Online Programs
MCLE's Online Programs are presented in MP3 audio format. After purchasing an online program, click on the "Your Online Products" link under your name (you must be logged in to your account). At the top of Your Online Products page, you will find links to any online products you currently have access to. Click the "View Now" link to open the program agenda.
The Program Agenda page contains links to each segment of the audio program. You may click on any link to launch your default media player and listen to the program immediately. At the top of the Agenda page, you will find a link to download the entire program if you prefer to listen to it at another time or to download it onto a CD or MP3 player.
The download link will copy a self-extracting (.exe) file to your computer. Once the file is downloaded, you will need to launch the program to extract the MP3 files by double-clicking the .exe file or selecting the file and choosing "Run." By default, the program will create a new folder on your "C:" drive and copy the MP3 files into it - at the prompt, you may change the name and location of the folder if you wish.
