Trustees & Overseers
Board of Trustees
MCLE is a nonprofit corporation organized pursuant to Chapter 180 of the
Massachusetts General Laws and Section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code.
The Institution is governed by a Board of Trustees that includes twenty-one
distinguished members of the Massachusetts legal community. Among the members of
the MCLE Board of Trustees are the current presidents of the Massachusetts and
Boston Bar Associations.
The Board meets on a quarterly basis, and is made up of several committees that meet
at various times throughout the year. These include the Executive/Finance Committee,
the Bylaws/Nominating Committee, the Long-Range Planning Committee, and the
Philanthropy Committee. Ex-officio, nonvoting, members of the Board include the
Executive Director of MCLE, MCLE's Founding Director, and the executive directors of
the Massachusetts and Boston Bar Associations.

Board of Overseers
MCLE's Board of Overseers consists of all former MCLE trustees and embodies some
of the most accomplished practitioners within the Massachusetts legal community. In
the broadest sense, the Overseers, who meet collectively on an annual basis, serve as
stewards of MCLE's mission to educate lawyers and advance the quality of legal
services provided to all clients; as ambassadors of MCLE throughout the
Commonwealth; and as advisors to MCLE in various aspects of the organization's
activities.
