JENNIFER A. YELEN is a partner at Posternak Blankstein & Lund LLP and member of the firm's litigation group, concentrating in civil litigation, including in the area of employment law. Ms. Yelen represents clients in state and federal courts, at the Massachusetts Commission Against Discrimination, and in arbitration. Prior to joining Posternak, she was a founding partner of Shilepsky O'Connell Casey Hartley Michon Yelen LLP, an employment and litigation boutique, and a partner in the litigation department of Perkins Smith & Cohen LLP. In her employment law practice, Ms. Yelen represents both employees and employers in all types of employment matters, including those involving discrimination, sexual harassment, breach of contract, and restrictive covenants (including covenants not to compete). She also regularly represents employees and employers in the negotiation of employment contracts, noncompetition covenants, and severance packages. She is admitted to practice law before the Massachusetts Supreme Judicial Court, the U.S. District Court of the District of Massachusetts, and the U.S. Court of Appeals for the First Circuit. She also has trial experience in the federal courts of New York, Virginia, Georgia, and Michigan and the state courts of South Carolina and Texas. Ms. Yelen was named a Massachusetts "Rising Star" in employment litigation from 2005 to 2007, and has been listed in Massachusetts Super Lawyers from 2007 to 2010, including being selected as one of Boston's top fifty women attorneys for her work in the field of employment litigation in 2007. An active member of the legal community, she is currently treasurer of the board of trustees of MCLE, for which she is currently serving her second three-year term. She has published articles on employment law issues, including in the Boston Bar Journal; is a coauthor of several MCLE employment-related publications, including Representing a Plaintiff in a Wrongful Termination Case (MCLE, Inc. 3d ed. 2007) and Massachusetts Employment Law (MCLE, Inc. 3d ed. 2009); and has lectured at MCLE on employment issues. Ms. Yelen received a B.A. in psychology from the State University of New York at Binghamton and received her J.D. from Northeastern University School of Law. (February 2011)
