Get an up-to-date review of issues relating to philanthropy and charitable giving. This year's conference focuses on advanced topics including private foundations, annuities, donor advised funds, and supporting organizations. The conference is tailored to lawyers and other professionals who advise donors and families on issues relating to charitable giving.
The experienced faculty focuses on planned giving issues and the principles of planned giving, including recent developments in this area. Included are selected topics of interest to those who counsel donors.
A portion of the program is devoted to charitable planning involving grandchildren, including an overview of charitable remainder trusts, an overview of charitable lead trusts (and why they are not generally a great option for grandchildren), how to involve grandchildren in the family foundation, and how to involve grandchildren in donor-advised funds.
You are also briefed on changes facing private foundations: are they still the vehicle of choice for high net worth donors? What does the future hold?
In addition, there is a segment on conservation restrictions and estate planning for family lands.
Receiving charitable gifts requires a great deal of care and analysis on the part of tax-exempt organizations. The conference examines the impact of nontraditional gifts, such as land, on tax-exempt organizations and also explores how lawyers can best advise their clients when they stand to receive such gifts.
