Why attend?

MCLE and the Probate and Family Court are collaborating to offer a timely update on the new guardianship initiatives of the court. This program is for attorneys handling routine guardianship matters. The seminar includes a thorough discussion of the various new initiatives of the Probate and Family Court as recently promulgated and the new focus on limited guardianship. Topics include: the new petition for guardianship, the new long form for medical certificates, and the new standing order on medical certificates. Also discussed are hearings, both temporary and permanent, the role of a guardian ad litem, clinical team reports, interstate cases, and revised Uniform Practice XX. The Probate and Family Court's new forms, rules, and procedures are designed to protect incapacitated individuals, including elderly persons, who appear in court. These changes are intended to ensure that judges have all of the information they need in making a decision to grant guardianship. The faculty features a Probate and Family Court judge, a judicial case manager, counsel for the petitioner, and counsel for the ward.
