Why attend?

With increasing frequency, expert witnesses are being retained and designated for trial by parties in civil litigation. Parties are deposing experts in both state and federal cases, rather than relying on the information provided in expert disclosures or reports. More and more parties are filing motions to exclude or limit experts and are focusing discovery on e-data issues.

Given the importance of scientific expert testimony in cases from a basic auto tort to a complex business valuation dispute, expert depositions are becoming one of the cornerstones of civil practice. Can you take a comprehensive and useful expert deposition? Are you knowledgeable about strategies and tactics to effectively corner the expert? Do you know how to develop a basis to exclude an expert who should not be testifying at trial? When should you use visual aids and computer recreations with expert testimony, and can you successfully object to, or limit, your opponent's use of such aids?

The panel of experts present practice pointers on: how to prepare your expert for a deposition, how to prepare for an audiovisual deposition, how to depose you or your opponent's expert, and when to use a deposition to limit or exclude the expert's testimony. Whether you have prepared and taken only a few expert depositions or you are seasoned at taking depositions, this program gives practitioners at all levels of expertise valuable insight into strategies for preparing and taking an effective expert deposition.
