Why attend?

Buildings are estimated to account for almost half of greenhouse gas emissions in the United States. They also affect water use, waste water disposal, trash generation, and traffic generation. To mitigate these impacts, governments at all levels have created incentives and promulgated regulations to promote sustainable or green building design. At the same time, interest among the private sector in sustainable building has skyrocketed. Developers, building owners, and tenants are seeking green building design, and lease negotiations now often address these concerns. But, what do the parties mean by a green building or green lease? How is sustainability measured and, if the building does not live up to its green billing, who bears the risk and what are the remedies?

Hear a current overview of green building issues and opportunities. The panelists review government land use programs and tax incentives designed to foster green building and discuss green leases and green building contract issues from the perspectives of landlords, tenants, developers, contractors, and design professionals. Are you up-to-date on what "going green" means for your clients-and what it means for your practice?
