This program is an appellate seminar unlike any you have likely ever attended. Its goal is to present the experienced appellate and post-conviction practitioner--whether they practice civil or criminal appeals--with the tools to take their advocacy to the next level. The program does not teach you the basics of how to do an appeal or handle a post-conviction matter, but instead how to do those things better and with a higher level of professionalism and competence.

The faculty is composed of attorneys and professionals with records of demonstrated success and experience in their fields. Collectively, the panel possesses decades of appellate, client, and professional experience.

You will learn...

  • How to organize and manage a voluminous appellate record so that you learn the record cold and then present that record in a concise, understandable format to an appellate panel
  • How to construct a narrative for your client on appeal based on familiar story-telling themes and then tell that story on appeal in a persuasive manner
  • Techniques to identify and then present information in your briefs using graphs or charts
  • How to use some basic software methods to make your practice more time-efficient
  • How to construct a brief that is easier to read and more persuasive by applying the survey responses of hundreds of state and federal appellate judges that indicate their advocacy preferences
