This program focuses on approaches to investigation, trial, and post-trial practice in delinquency and criminal cases involving defendants and witnesses with competency, diminished capacity and/or criminal responsibility issues. The latest ideas and approaches involved in working with individuals with mental health issues are explored and discussed. What are the ethical, legal, practical and tactical issues that arise from arraignment to sentencing to appeals?

Experienced practitioners offer guidance on the prerequisites to success, both in and out of the courtroom in handling these difficult cases. Learn practical tips and get advice on how to educate and challenge judges and juries regarding evidence of mental health issues.
