    Product Description

    The Employment Law Sourcebook & Citator combines two outstanding practice resources: a sourcebook collecting the latest in practice area reference materials—statutes, regulations, and administrative guidelines—and a citator abstracting and analyzing recent decisions of the Massachusetts Commission Against Discrimination (MCAD). This comprehensive and portable resource is an essential companion for employment lawyers.

    Recent updates:

    • Update: December 2019

      Dear Subscriber:

      Thank you for updating your reference library with the 2020 edition of the Massachusetts Employment Law Sourcebook & Citator. This updated product brings the latest in employment law and procedure within your immediate reach—for fast answers to the questions that arise most frequently in your practice.

      Highlights from this year's sourcebook include

      • amendments to the Massachusetts Family and Medical Leave Act and the addition of implementing regulations (458 C.M.R. § 2.00) promulgated by the Department of Family and Medical Leave;
      • updates to the minimum wage rate and to the wage premium provided for work on Sunday;
      • amended limitations on employers use of criminal convictions and a prohibition on the use of criminal records that have been sealed or expunged pursuant to G.L. c. 276;
      • guidance from the Massachusetts Commission Against Discrimination (MCAD) regarding the Pregnant Workers Fairness Act;
      • addition of the federal overtime regulations set forth at 29 C.F.R. Part 541 (Defining and Delimiting the Exemptions for Executive, Administrative, Professional, Computer and Outside Sales Employees);
      • updated penalties for failure to post certain notices required under federal employment laws; and
      • rescission of regulatory provisions providing incentives for employee wellness programs and submission of information for spouses health risk assessments.

      NNew materials for the MCAD citator include thirty-five abstracts of MCAD decisions from 2018 and 2019, along with expert commentary and overviews of the years developments from both employee- and management-side perspectives. Hundreds of annotated abstracts from prior years (2000–2018) are available for download.

      Thank you for your ongoing support of this product, as we at MCLE continue our efforts to bring you the latest solutions to the issues you face in your practice.

      Very truly yours,

      John M. Lawlor, MCLE Publications Attorney
