First 2017-2018 Scholar-Mentor honored

Long-time workers’ compensation expert recognized

Every year, MCLE recognizes as Scholar-Mentors four outstanding individuals who have “raised the bar” through their career-long contributions to the continuing legal education of the bar and their exceptional service to the legal profession by volunteering their time and expertise to MCLE programs and publications. These awards will be presented throughout the year at annual conferences or other programs in the practice areas relevant and meaningful to the recipients.

The first MCLE Scholar-Mentor Award for the 2017-2018 year was presented to Joseph F. Agnelli, Jr., on Friday, November 17, 2017, at the 18th Annual Workers’ Compensation Law Conference 2017, in front of many colleagues and friends. A founding partner of Agnelli Law Offices, PC, in Worcester, Joe has more than 35 years of experience representing injured workers in the areas of workers’ compensation, Social Security Disability and Accidental Disability Retirement claims. A graduate of Fitchburg State College and Suffolk University Law School, he is a Fellow of the College of Workers’ Compensation Lawyers and has been named as one of the nation’s “Top 100 Injured Workers Lawyers” by the Worker Injury Law and Advocacy Group—among other honors by such groups as the American Institute of Legal Counsel and Massachusetts Super Lawyers.

A participant on more than 35 MCLE programs over the past 25 years, including chair of the annual Workers’ Compensation Law Conference since its inception in 1999, Joe has been instrumental in training and updating lawyers in the area of workers injury law, the ins and outs of the Massachusetts Workers’ Compensation Act, and practice before the Department of Industrial Accidents. He is also a contributing author on MCLE’s Workers’ Compensation Practice in Massachusetts and the Massachusetts Basics Practice Manual. Please join us in thanking Joe for his excellence and long-term service as an MCLE volunteer.

Stay tuned throughout the year for more Scholar-Mentor Award announcements.
