Tuttman of the Massachusetts Superior Court. The new edition is a reliable and comprehensive compendium of instructions that can be tailored by the reader—with confidence that the language offered has been carefully drafted and closely edited.

The 2018 Edition includes new instructions, modifies and updates existing instructions, provides updated citations and references, and offers the full text of the Supreme Judicial Court's model homicide instructions, updated during 2018. Instructions have been simplified and streamlined to use plain language formulations for clarity where possible. The long-awaited instructions contained in this reference book are designed to enhance the quality of criminal advocacy in the Superior Court. They comprise a reliable, objective, and comprehensive compendium of carefully drafted content designed to aid both prosecution and defense. This book updates the chargebook first relied upon by the Commonwealth's judiciary in 1995. Over the years, its instructions have been cited numerous times in the Superior Court.

  - In Chapter 2, there is the full text of the Supreme Judicial Court's 2018 Instructions for Specific Crimes: Crimes of Homicide.
  - In Chapter 3, find a revised instruction, among others, addressing rape of a child under the age of sixteen.
