      Highlights from the updates for 2025 include

      • amendments to the Massachusetts General Laws addressing
        • monitoring systems to detect drivers passing school buses in violation of G.L. c. 90, §§ 14 and 14C;
        • obligations to provide students with information on postsecondary financial aid;
        • implementation of the 2024 ballot question ending use of the MCAS test to determine eligibility for graduation;
        • encouragement of age-appropriate media literacy skills; and
        • responsibilities of mandated reporters to communicate regarding suspected abuse or neglect;
      • amended hearing rules for special education appeals;

        • questions regarding the support available to twenty- and twenty-one-year-old students;

        • various assessments of whether individualized education programs were affording students the free appropriate public education to which they were entitled.
