    Product Description

Every business needs a place to call home. Most hire a broker to help them find space, and then sign a letter of intent to lease that space. It is rare, however, for the business to occupy the space exactly the way it is; the tenant almost always elects to do a greater or lesser amount of work to the premises before moving in.

Learn how to navigate the steps between a signed letter of intent and space that is ready to occupy. This new program begins with a primer on construction law basics; regardless of whether your client is the landlord or tenant, or is going to be in charge of performing the construction or not, you need to understand the basics of construction law and practice to represent them properly. The faculty then explain the construction provisions in leases—including how they vary depending on whether landlord or tenant is performing the work, and the special considerations for retail space. And finally, and perhaps most importantly, learn what really happens in the field after the leases and the construction contracts are signed. Hear from an experienced project manager about the actual construction process, and how it does—and doesn’t—match up with the language of the contracts. Get the skillset and insight to masterfully guide your clients through this process to successful occupancy.
