Thank you for helping MCLE to "keep raising the bar."
BECOME A VOLUNTEER
MCLE benefits greatly from the volunteer contributions of more than 2,000 lawyers and judges who generously serve
as program faculty, authors, and curriculum advisors each year. Their willingness to share their time and expertise is
an integral part of MCLE's continuing effort to educate attorneys and enhance the quality of legal services provided to
the public. Interested in contributing your time and expertise to CLE? Or would you simply like to suggest an idea for
curriculum or new product development? MCLE would love to hear from you!
PROGRAMS
Program volunteers serve as chair/co-chair, helping to develop the program agenda and recruit faculty, and as faculty
members, preparing materials and presentations to be given to registrants on the day of the program. Volunteers are
welcome to bring a guest to the program free of charge (except for multi-day limited enrollment workshops and training
programs). For more details on what is involved in volunteering for an MCLE program, download the following resources:
Publication volunteers serve as editor/co-editor, helping to develop the book scope and recruit authors, or as authors, writing
expert guidance and providing useful samples for book readers. Volunteers are provided with a complimentary copy of each
publication and update in which they participate. For more information on what is involved in volunteering as an MCLE editor
or author, download the following resources:

Cite the title of each MCLE program or publication to which you contributed on your C.V. Remember to also update
your C.V. on any online recruitment sites you use, such as LinkedIn and Indeed, as well as your firm's website.
Any time your name appears on the MCLE website in connection to a program or publication, it is linked to the
biography we have on file for you, so be sure to keep us updated with any changes to your professional
accomplishments and affiliations.
We also help to promote your firm or organization by linking to your website any time your affiliation appears on
this site. Keep MCLE informed of any changes in your professional affiliation to keep those links current.
MCLE regularly shares information about upcoming programs and newly published books on Twitter, LinkedIn,
Facebook, and YouTube. Follow us on any or all of these platforms, and share posts about your contributions.
Regard your volunteer efforts for MCLE as occasions warranting announcements in your legal community, by
publicizing them on your own social media accounts, as well as on your firm's bar associations' interest groups'

PowerPoint slides and other materials drafted for program presentations can be readily repurposed in blogs,
newsletters, client communications, and firm websites to demonstrate your expertise.
MCLE creates video, audio, and text archives of most programs. Your presentation could be repurposed for use in
client development meetings, trainings, new lawyer recruitment, law firm presentations, and professional
meetings in your field of expertise. Contact MCLE for information on availability and restrictions on use.
Your written materials are a powerful vehicle to demonstrate your expertise to clients. Consider submitting your
work to the trade journals your potential clients read, news media and legal publications. MCLE can advise you as
to how to word the copyright information, whether you are reprinting your chapter verbatim, adapting it, or
updating it for a new use.
Draw upon existing forms and drafted documents such as motions, checklists, and memoranda from your own
case files when preparing materials for inclusion in MCLE programs or publications. These samples are a great way
to share your experience in the interest of teaching other lawyers best practices by example.
Consider the impact of sending a complimentary copy of your publication to a client for his or her own library.
There is a viral impact in having your published work shared between your client and his or her associates,
colleagues, and friends. Contact MCLE's customer service department to discuss options for purchasing a
publication to which you contributed in bulk, and at cost.
Regard your volunteer efforts for MCLE as occasions warranting announcements in your legal community. Try
sending out announcements to law-related news media or to trade media that your clients are likely to peruse,
such as real estate, insurance, estate planning, or financial publications.
Program volunteers often use guest passes as a way to assist in an associate's professional development, but you
could also take advantage of MCLE's considerable prestige in the community by using your guest pass to invite a
client to hear you present in your area of expertise. It's a personal gesture that can impress a client while setting
you apart from others in your field.
